Miranda Cares

Welcome! I’m Miranda Botts, LMHC, LPC, LAC

Lived Experience

I am a firm believer in the transformative power of counseling because I have done, and continue to do my own personal therapy. I understand intimately what its like to be in the other seat as a client, and I recognize the courage it takes to embark on a journey of self-discovery and personal development. Having engaged in my own therapeutic process, I have not only witnessed but actively experienced the positive impact of counseling. I am proud to share that many of the successful strategies I teach in my practice are ones I have personally used in my own life. This personal connection to the therapeutic process allows me to approach each client with empathy, understanding, and a genuine commitment to facilitating transformative change.

As a devoted parent to children diagnosed with mental health and sensory disorders, I also deeply understand and enjoy working with parents on Caregiver Stress, Parent Coaching, understanding disabilities, and navigating the system with support.

Professional

As a Mental Health Counselor with 20+ years of experience, I have spent my career devoted to helping others conquer the challenges in their lives. I’ve worked with a wide range of clients over the years, from young children, teens, adults, and families. I’ve enjoyed working in community-serving organizations with a wide variety of clients including community mental health, child welfare, and juvenile corrections. In the past I’ve served in roles such as the Regional Youth Suicide Prevention Coordinator, Clinical Director, Child & Family Therapist and Behavioral Health Clinician. I also enjoy providing clinical trainings to professionals as well as to the community, especially as interest in Mental Health topics continues to grow.

About my approach

I believe in the power of Growth Mindset and skill-based, results-oriented humanistic care. I specialize in treating depression, anxiety, trauma/PTSD and use an individualized blend of CBT, DBT, & Mindfulness. We will focus on learning skills that lead to stronger, more fulfilling relationships, enhanced self-confidence, better emotional regulation, and relationship skills like boundaries, assertiveness, and trauma-informed parenting. This leads you to better sleep, enhanced focus & concentration, a more balanced emotional state and improved overall wellbeing.

What you can expect from our first session

Therapy is a partnership where we work to find what support, coping skills, and life changes are needed to manage your mental health and improve your quality of life. We start by assessing your needs, goals, and learning more about you personally in order to set and achieve personally meaningful goals, even if you're not exactly sure what those are yet. Clients seeking tangible skills, and not “just talking endlessly” appreciate my results-oriented approach. Your wins are my wins!
